1. Bathing with Warm Water and Epsom Salt
Piyush felt a lot of relief when he bathed with warm water and Epsom salt. Using a plastic tub that fits over the toilet seat, he immersed the affected area in it for 20 minutes every time he passed bowels.
2. Ice Packs
Ice packs can be very relieving, as Piyush discovered. The trick to maximize the effectiveness of Ice packs is, it should only be applied for 15 minutes at a time. This was helpful in reducing the swelling.
3. Witch Hazel
Itching and pain are the main systems of Hemorrhoids. Witch hazel is known for being among the most recommended piles remedies. Piyush found that it comes in a liquid form. It can be applied directly to the external hemorrhoids for some relief.
4. Aloe Vera
While aloe vera can be found in a variety of products, it is recommended to only use pure aloe vera for treating hemorrhoids. However, people allergic to garlic or onions may be allergic to aloe vera as well.
Piyush had to check if he was allergic to it, so this is what he did:
- He rubbed a drop of aloe vera on his arm and decided to wait for 24 to 48 hours.
- Since he suffered no allergic reaction, he deduced that it was safe to use.
5. Soothing Wet Wipes
Piyush understood that he had to keep the affected areas clean at all times, especially after a bowel movement. With the help of soothing wet wipes containing ingredients such as witch hazel, he made sure to keep the affected areas clean. Do remember, the wet wipes should not have any alcohol content or fragrance to it since they way worsen the hemorrhoids!
Wearing loose, pure cotton clothing allows the skin to breathe freely. This way, the skin around the anal region remains clean and dry. How does this help? Clean and dry skin reduces the chances of new infections in the damaged skin.
7. Tea Tree Oil
One of the best home remedies for piles bleeding is tea tree oil. It helped in relieving Piyush from pain, discomfort and itching. What’s more, tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic. So, it also assists in fighting against bacteria which could cause more issues.
8. Virgin Coconut Oil
Virgin coconut oil is known worldwide for its anti-inflammatory properties which reduce swelling. Since it contains pain-relieving properties, it also helped Piyush in reducing discomfort. In fact, his hemorrhoids seemed to heal faster with virgin coconut oil.
Constipation during piles is a big no; virgin coconut oil also helps as a laxative allowing for smooth bowel movements. Piyush consumed the oil by applying it externally and cooking food with it.
9. High Fibre Food
For piles treatment at home, it is best if the patient eats food with high fibre content such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, brown rice, etc. Piyush consumed high fibre food regularly while maintaining a regular intake of water. All of these things helped reduce his constipation which made him heal faster.
10. Petroleum Jelly
Piyush also discovered the joys of petroleum jelly in his search for piles treatment at home. All he did was dab a bit of the petroleum jelly on the affected area to soften it.
11. Lying Down
Piyush also decided to take some time off his duties so that he could lie down as much as possible. When you lie down stretched on a couch or a bed, it takes a significant amount of weight off the sore areas. Additionally, keeping your legs up for a while also helps. This helps improve blood circulation which can also be an effective form of piles treatment.
