2. Applying lukewarm compress

Pneumonia heightens the temperature of the body. The application of a lukewarm compress can cool it down.

  • How to do: A small piece of cloth needs to be wet with lukewarm water. Then the excess water should be wrung out. Next, that cloth should be placed on the forehead. It can be repeated when required.

 

3. Drinking coffee

One of the significant symptoms of pneumonia is shortness of breath. It can be comforted at home too. Drinking a hot cup of coffee helps in this case. Coffee consists of caffeine that has a similarity with theophylline. Theophylline is a bronchodilator drug. It helps to widen the airways of the lungs. Its effects can linger for nearly four hours.

4. Drinking turmeric tea

Pneumonia may cause pain in the chest. But drinking turmeric tea may help in reducing the pain. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties. They lessen the pain.

  • How to do: One teaspoon of turmeric powder needs to be added to boiling water. Then it should be simmered for ten minutes in low heat. After that, it needs to be strained. Honey and lemon should be added to it. A pinch of black pepper can be added too.

 

5. Sitting before a fan

Shortness of breath occurs in pneumonia. During that time, sitting before a fan helps a lot. The fan should be directed across the nose and mouth. This can be done for five minutes at a time. The fan can be alternated between running towards legs. It should be repeated until the troubles reduce.

6. Drinking warm water

Chills are often caused by pneumonia. It can be reduced by drinking warm water. It will maintain the hydration level of the body. It will also warm the body up from the inside. This warm water will also help to intake more fluids too.

7. Drinking peppermint tea

Peppermint is a decongestant. It has anti-inflammatory properties too. It also acts as s painkiller. Therefore, peppermint tea helps to soothe irritation and expel mucus.

  • How to do: Clean and fresh mint leaves need to be placed in a cup or a teapot. Boiling water should be added to that. The leaves should be steeped for nearly five minutes. Then the water should be strained and served with lemon, honey, or milk.
